AI4HealthyCities
Why it matters
Only about 20% of a person’s health is determined by healthcare. The remaining 80% is driven by social, economic, and environmental factors — such as access to healthy lifestyle and food options, education, income, transport, crime rate, social isolation, housing, as well as pollution. AI4HealthyCities has quantified which of these factors matter most in five cities, enabling decision makers to target resource allocation to where it is needed most.
Where we work
AI4HealthyCities has been rolled out in New York City, Singapore, Helsinki, Lisbon and Basel. Each city brings together health and non-health partners to explore data-driven insights and codesign interventions that are place- or population-based.
What it delivers
The initiative quantifies the strength of associations between underlying determinants and cardiovascular health outcomes. It provides actionable insights for decision makers to reduce disparities and improve heart health across large populations, while supporting cities in designing data-driven strategies to predict cardiovascular risk, detect it early, and ensure timely, adequate management.
